2019

Name: Luna Rover

Competitions: Greater Kansas City Regional - Rank: 5 (10-6-0)

Features: PVC Scissor lift and pneumatic climbing system. Climbing system is a completely autonomous system that went from Level 1 to Level 3 of the Habitat in 45 seconds consistently. Active intake and passive hatch grabber. Can manipulate balls with high accuracy and quick release.

2018

Name: Atlas

Competitions: Inaugural Heartland Regional - Rank: 18 (10-8-0)

                               Houston Championships - Rank: 53 (5-5-0)

Awards: Regional Finalists (Heartland), Industrial Design Award (Heartland)

Features: Scissor lift climbing mechanism with a secondary clutch threaded through the scissors. 90% climbing accuracy. Can manipulate cubes with high accuracy, being able to put them in the Scale, Switch, and Exchange.

2017

Name: Lightning McSteam

Competitions: Greater Kansas City Regional - Rank: 9 (6-5-1)

                            St. Louis Champs - Rank: 28 (5-5-0) Archimedes

Awards: Imagery Award in memory of Jack Kamen for GKC Regional.

Features: The simple design features a two-speed gear box. Averages 5.7 gears per match. The airship climber, designed by drive team Senior Jacob T., climbs in 10 seconds. Top has a funnel-esque set of ramps to where the gear is held with a cutout  for fuel to escape. The aesthetic of the robot includes copper pneumatic pipes, laser-printed decals and sponsor names, and a 3D printed RSL cover.

2016

Name: Hank the Tank

Competitions: Greater Kansas City Regional - Rank: 52 (2-10-0)

                            Inaugural Iowa Regional - Rank: 51 (2-8-0)

Awards: Imagery Award in memory of Jack Kamen for GKC Regional.

Features: Tank tread drive system developed during build season using team's pulleys, pneumatic two height shooter, low height capable of going under the low bar, three-sided intake with 90 degree gearboxes, telescoping custom pulley extending arm and hook capable of climbing.

2015

Name: Xeno

Competitions: Greater Kansas City Regional - Rank: 16 (7-3-0)

Awards: Dean's List Semi-Finalists: Rhett P. (L) and Sarah S. (L)

                Woodie Flower's Finalist Award: M. B. Mattingly. (W)

Features: Dropping platform for tote stacking, scissor-lift arm with stretching capabilities past the interior of the robot with aluminum claw powered by pneumatics to tgrasp totes and containers. Four CIM drive system. Pneumatic "wings" with guiding red sides and teeth to hold stacks more seurely.

2014

Name: Audrey 3

Competitions: Arkansas Regional - Rank: 6 (8-4-0)

                               Greater Kansas City Regional - Rank: 8 (8-3-0)

Features: Catapult firing system, one and two ball autonomous, three-sided ball intake, PVC "wings" that open for easier catching. This is the first robot that features reversible bumper skins.

2013

Name: Mater

Competitions: Greater Kansas City Regional - Rank: 30 (5-7-0)

     Razorback Regional - Rank: 24 (5-9-0)

     St. Louis Championships - Curie Rank: 54 (4-4-0)

Awards: Innovation in Control Award

Features: Programmed pneumatic climbing system with a four disc dump for the top of the pyramid, three disc autonomous.

2012

Name: Archie

Competitions: Greater Kansas City Regional - Rank: 17 (7-2-0)

     St. Louis Regional - Rank: 16 (8-4-1)

Awards: Dean's List Award for Chris G.

Features: Trapezoidal shape, belts that raise the ball to the shooter, arm to push onto the balance, LED strands.

2011

Name: Bullwinkle & Rocky

Competitions: Greater Kansas City Regional - Rank: 6 (9-3-1)

Awards: Xerox Creativity Award, Woodie Flower's Award for Gary H.

Features: Scissor lift mechanism to raise to the height required, "antlers" that expand out on the inside of the inner tubes to pick up, mini bot Rocky.

2010

Name: Captain Jack

Competitions: Greater Kansas City Regional - Rank: 12 (8-4-1)

Awards: Xerox Creativity Award

 

2009
